More Firsts

Every day we have more firsts.

First Easter!

First egg dying. Grammy & Bapi came over to help.

First time trying to sit through church. A complete failure. Somehow the child who spent his first 3 years just sitting around, now has no ability to sit. He can make any activity - like coloring with crayons - a loud activity.

First egg hunt. Overall, it was a fine experience. He did what he was supposed to do. There were a few moments when joy broke through.

First seed planting. That was pretty interesting. I'm sure that G has never planted before, yet he totally understood what to do. He was his most focused, deliberate self - getting the dirt, poking in the seeds, watering. I wondered if his first family did some farming. It was so natural to him. Can you inherit a gardening gene?

We did not experience the first random vomit today. That would be the third vomit. But who's counting?

  1. super cute. welcome to the life of the church going toddler mom. fight all morning to be ontime...first song...sit in the nursery and talk to the other moms while you play with your child...say goodbye to the few friends who remain at the end of church...go home and wonder why you did it.
ok, that sounded WAY more negative than i really feel about church!
    what did you plant?
what preceded the vomit? candy? that happened to us at 1:30 am Easter Monday. too much candy for ava means puke all over the bed and all over me. the next morning she asked if i had seen the olives from her dinner in the puke. i told her i didn't look that closely. priorities people. seriously.

  2. Gentry - Yes, I was wondering why I should return to church for, say, the next 5 years. But that first song was really good. We planted lavender. It should have been started 8-10 weeks ago, but I figured it was about the experience, not the lavender - right? And the vomit - who knows? It seems to be a random occurance. I don't know if I can blame it on the candy - although he did get his first chocolate AND ice cream AND a cookie on Sunday. Maybe his stomach got used to that, so rejected the nice oatmeal I gave him? And - LOVE that Ava was interested in the olives. What a girl!

  3. What I want to know is how G's hands aren't covered in dye - Av and Mal's hands didn't come clean for days post egg coloring (pics to follow).
